ORNL Research Scientist Addresses Urban Challenges to Elementary Students

On November 21st, 2022, Christa Brelsford, a research scientist from Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) presented “Topology is Amazing!”  to 120 3rd graders at Linden Elementary in Oak Ridge Tennessee about how she uses mathematical topology to address urban challenges. This talk supported STEM engagement at Linden Elementary (a federally supported title 1 school in Tennessee).

And on May 05th, 2023, Brelsford, presented “Cities, Climate Change, and Disease:  How science can help humanity solve big problems” at University of Tennessee Science Forum. Since 1933, The University of Tennessee’s weekly science forum has provided the general public, students and other researchers an opportunity to learn about the latest cutting-edge research at University of Texas at Austin, ORNL and other local institutions (https://scienceforum.utk.edu/).
